Release candidate available

by Jan Torben Heuer last modified 2009-03-24 03:02

A lot of improvements "under to hood" and a fresh new design characterize this release. Just (re)start the application, Java will download the missing or new libraries for you!

I found some speed blockers so finally the local search is in real time and even bookmarks from friends are retrieved within seconds. The new design is not final yet but more a proof of concept (and based on some blog posts I found). If you want the links, add me "jtheuer@jabber.ccc.de" to your list. Talking about accounts, the next release will allow you to use your existing jabber account even while you are using Pidgin/Kopete/whatever for chatting with your friends. XMPP is just a great piece of software (or a great standard).

Here is a screenshot from the new "Home" tab:

Enjoy!

frozen...

Posted by Jan Torben Heuer at 2010-05-05 10:52
Never mind, I actually was answering in German but for some reason I did not send the message... So another chance in English. The current state of the project is frozen. Which is actually a nice word for ignored. The simple reason is: I'm not a student anymore, got my diploma and have to earn money. Long story is: I was trying to get some founding for a research project around privacy in social networks which could support this project indirectly. But then things came different - as always. If someone is interested in taking the lead I'd more than happy but currently I simply have no time for the project (at least no time I want to spend in front of a computer).

I'm sorry for the project and all people which gave very valuable feedback via email, jabber, bug reports or in conversations like on the CCC.

Cheers,

Jan
