Diki live demo

by Jan Torben Heuer last modified 2008-09-08 19:08

Diki is written in java and therefore available for Windows, Mac OS and GNU/Linux. You may have to install the Java 6 Runtime Environment, first.

Diki is a peer-to-peer (or better: friend-to-friend) network for social semantic web application. Think of it as an instant messenger program for social networks like del.icio.us, bibsonomy, citeseer, facebook or studivz. Unlike those social networks, diki does not have a central server that stores your private data. The idea of diki is to create a social network that respects the users' privacy but giving them all functionality that server-based social networks have.

In the current release you can create bookmarks, tag them and invite friends. Then you can search for bookmarks in your friends-network.

Requirements

You have to install at least Java6 to run this Java webstart application. A current version is available from http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp

Download

If you've already installed Java6 simply click on the button below:

Launch diki Java Webstart

The application will start directly, you don't have to follow an installation routine. If you want to start diki later again, I recommend to bookmark the starter-link above in your toolbar.

For Gnome and KDE users (and possible other unix desktops) is a shortcut file available. You don't have to install diki first. Try to drag'n'drop or save this link to your Toolbar (doesn't work for KDE 3.x) or your Desktop: diki.desktop. It will try to start the Java Webstart application. If it doesn't work, use the all-platforms starter above.

Problems

If you have any problem using or downloading diki please see first the FAQ and report a bug in the issue tracker, later! Find both links below.
